Suzette's Team In Training

Is it an early MID-LIFE CRISIS?? Boredom?? Or have I completely lost my mind?!?!

I am excited about an upcoming, “life-changing” event. I have the opportunity to be part of the Nike 26.2 marathon in San Francisco. Let me explain: On October 23, 2005, I am going to walk 26.2 miles to support the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in its efforts to battle leukemia and other blood cancers.

Why, you may ask, have I taken on such a monumental task?

Well, this year, leukemia and its related diseases will strike some 105,000 Americans and kill 59,200.

Those numbers SCARE me.
To me—That’s reason enough!

I have set two goals:
1. To raise a minimum of $3500 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
2. To finish the marathon the same day that I start, it.

The top five reasons I am training to walk 26.2 miles in one day…

5. I want to know that I have done everything I can to celebrate having a full, healthy life surrounded by amazing friends and family.
4. Honestly, getting rid of about 15 pounds wouldn’t hurt.
3. To help stop the #1 disease killer of children under the age of 15 years old (It kills ten times more adults each year). This is NOT FAIR!
2. The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society supports five major programs: Research, Patient Financial Aid and Services, Public and Professional Education and Community Services

MOST IMPORTANTLY, for me:

1. We have all been touched by cancer and leukemia – whether it is through family members and friends, or even in our own lives. I am walking in honor of Tyler Lower and in memory of Riki Jo Legnon Leader. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line – A CURE!

Of course, there is no way that I could meet this challenge without your support.

The top five reasons you can support me in this challenge…

5. Do not remind me how far 26.2 miles is.
4. Constantly comment on how much weight I’ve lost – Feel free to exaggerate!
3. Give me the names of your family members or friends who have suffered with these deadly diseases and I will race in honor of your loved ones. I will wear a ribbon for each name I receive.
2. Pass this message to someone you know who has a personal interest in seeing these diseases disappear.

AND MOST IMPROTANTLY, for the Society.

1. I am in need of positive thoughts and prayers during my training, and also every penny, nickel and hundred-dollar bill you can spare! Please sponsor my goal and contribute as generously as you can to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society on my behalf. Every donation (however large or small) will help fight for a cure.

If you are able to donate at this time, please hit the donate button on the left side of this page. All contributions are 100% deductible.
